This past Saturday, 18th October 2025, brought something really special to our neighbourhood. Community Gardens Australia hosted the 2025 Community Gardens Gathering right at the Glenelg North Community Centre. And with our garden just around the corner, we couldn't resist getting involved.

Our Sunday 10th August fundraiser at Bunnings Adelaide Airport went better than expected. We set up at 9am and ran until 5pm, with the busiest period hitting around lunchtime when we nearly ran out of sausages.

Until a few years ago, we used to collect horse manure from the local racetrack for our composting needs. While it worked reasonably well, it came with a few too many issues: it smelled awful, and more importantly, we had no real idea what was in it. Racing horses are often medicated, and traces of those substances may have been passed on to our soil. So, we changed course.

Winter Mulching 2025

Winter pruning season has begun in earnest, and with it comes an abundance of pruning wood that needs proper management.

Of course, we could simply hire a large green skip bin and have an external waste provider take it all away, but that wouldn't be very sustainable – and it's costly too. Instead, we're putting our own mulcher to work, keeping all those valuable nutrients in our garden through composting the mulched wood.
